Hey Dan,

Great slide show and blog. I am getting ready to start building the Bayou plan. Can you tell me the name of the supplier you used for the windows?

I bought all my windows, door, ac, sat dish, stove, stove vent, sink, thetford toilet, and a lot of other stuff by bidding for it on ebay. i got the windows for $85 ea and they are Hehr double pane and the factory wants $285 ea. go to eabay and get u an account and start bidding. there is approx 85 to 110 pages of trailer/camper parts

Could you tell me what size inverter you used? Also what is the size and model number of the Fridge? What is the size and brand of your electrical box?

I also have a set of plans for the same camper and after seeing your Blog I am anxious to get started!!

Thanks!

Sparky, I used a Vector 2000 watt inverter $239.00, The converter is a 55amp Xtreme $125, and the fridge is a Magic Chef Model#MCBR415S from Home Depot $199. I bought parts from everyone on line, probably 30 different companies, bought by bidding on line. Didn't keep records of everyone i bought from. but i can tell u i kept the fed ex, dhl, and ups trucks coming to my house 2 and 3 times a week. all the drivers knew what i was building and came in to look at the progress every time they delivered a part.

Sweet, I want one.but I have neither the space, time or patience to build one of this quality..thinking about a Glenn-L plan for the dimensions and just use the camping stove and other camping equipment I own inside..in other words, primitive camping with a wooden tent..that is if I cant find one factory built within driving distance..but u did a great job there

I built mine in 2004. Total cost of materials was $4500. The frame was made of 2x2 ash (ripped from used 2x12 planks). The appliances were from a used RV. Windows, siding, lighting etc. I purchased from RV surplus in Indiana. I built it to fit a 6'6" short box. The total length is 15' with 9' of floor and total weight at completion was 1960 lbs. My wife and I have put nearly 100000 miles on it and it still looks new. I have done a few upgrades over the years. Added 2 deep cycle 6v batteries for the inverter. A 12" flat screen and cable connections. A custom made king mattress that is better than my bed at home. 2 12v computer fans on a thermostat to keep the fridge coils cool. I am questioned constantly "who is the manufacturer"? If anyone is interested send me an email I will send you some photos, tips and where to get the best deals on materials! GRTdunn@comcast.net

I built my homemade truck bed tent for my Ford F150 which is working very good. It cost me around $200 in total. I still use that in deer hunting season.
